The purchase of part of Seagram (2001)and the acquisitions of Allied Domecq (2005) and of Vin Sprit further consolidated Pernod Ricards leadership in China with the addition of Ballantines, Mumm, Perrier-Jouet, Beefeater, Kahlúa and Malibu in 2005, and most recently Absolut vodka to the already strong brand portfolio. Pernod Ricard has a wholly-owned trading company based in Shanghai, with a strong distribution network covering more than 100 cities across China. The companys six regional offices are located in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Wuhan and Chengdu. As Pernod Ricard continues to enjoy healthy growth of its business and key brands in China, it is also committed to contributing to Chinas sustainable development. Since the launch of a nationwide anti-drink-driving public education campaign in 2005, Pernod RicardChi achieved significant results in terms of raising public awareness about the dangers of drink-driving. Pernod Ricard China has also been continuously contributing to the countrys arts and culture education as well as cultural exchange between China and countries around the world.
